Only a few words are glossed here (mostly words that do not appear in Chaucer). Note that in Gower, "h" often stands for "gh" (i.e., kniht for knight), "ie" in place of "e" or "ee" (hiere for here or heere); "i" is often used for "y" (worthi for worthy), and "be" often appears for "by." Like Chaucer's work, Gower's Confessio is most easily understood if it is read aloud.
